I am submitting my footy tips to you this week from London. Perhaps I will be more successful in selecting winners from afar - my tipping record so far this season has been dreadful!

Anyway, Janet and I have been in London since last Sunday and are having a great time taking in all the sights. It's been a few years since we were last here and, apart from the usual suspects, we have managed to do and see some new things such as a boat ride on the Thames down to Greenwich, which was really interesting. Last night, we managed to get to the theatre and saw 'War Horse' and thoroughly enjoyed it. The puppeteers are amazing and after awhile the horses seem to be the real deal.

The main reason we are here is to attend a wedding on Saturday. It is for the daughter of friends of ours and is being held at a curiously named place - the Nonsuch Mansion out in Surrey. It promises to be an interesting occasion!

Next week, we head off to Spain and I will submit my footy tips from Barcelona . . . with a further update on our travels.

<![CDATA[Anyone for game fishing]]>Sun, 16 Jun 2013 09:11:29 GMThttp://itsmorethanagame.net/2013-newsletter/anyone-for-game-fishingApparently Tony Lawler is. He is off to East Timor 18 June to try his hand. I suspect he will be ok because he shows form as noted in this photo.

<![CDATA[Tony - fancy pants]]>Fri, 07 Jun 2013 21:45:48 GMThttp://itsmorethanagame.net/2013-newsletter/tony-fancy-pants BARNBUGLE, TASMANIA
At a recent golf trip to the 2 courses at Barnbugle in Tasmania Lairy (aka Tony Lawler) was proud of the new trousers he and his friends had decided to wear. Very “out there”.

But no. The conservative element was blown away by the young bucks. Didn’t help their golf though!!

<![CDATA[Birthday practice]]>Wed, 17 Apr 2013 08:12:45 GMThttp://itsmorethanagame.net/2013-newsletter/birthday-practice

The PPA has spent a fantastic time in Beechworth as they practice for the celebration of Allan's big birthday. This has been necessitated as the Werner's will be away for the big day.
There was plenty of good laughter as we investigated the area, took a number of fine wining and dining options and played games.
I am not sure that Al will be able to keep up this pace for another month, but I am sure the challenge could not be with a better person.

Although many would consider this to be a reasonable place for the boys, the Beechworth gaol is now a superb tourist attraction.
We enjoyed the parks and sites of Bright and Stanley. The latter was another culinary delight.

<![CDATA[Work on the property]]>Thu, 11 Apr 2013 05:51:35 GMThttp://itsmorethanagame.net/2013-newsletter/work-on-the-propertyPicture
Second week of leave and a substantial chunk of time has been spent on Mel & Mark's property. The primary project has been the construction of 20 metres of shelves and locked cupboards for Mel's gear in the stable. This will keep the agistees under check and allow further leasing of a couple of stables that are filled with horse rugs and tack.

The stables will come in handy as Mel & Mark improve the property and attract new customers. Despite over 100 acres there is now a waiting list for agistment at this upgraded property.

For those who have not seen this new venture then check out the website here www.phasepark.com_

<![CDATA[Dave's Long Service Leave]]>Wed, 03 Apr 2013 23:57:08 GMThttp://itsmorethanagame.net/2013-newsletter/daves-long-service-leavePicture
One week in and just getting around to reporting progress on my two months of leave. It has been both busy and fun. My leave got of to a great start with Easter. This has meant that the first four days have not diminished my leave entitlement at all.

I have been given the chance in the first week to sharpen my skills again on all those activities that IBM has withdrawn over the past few years. The garden has seen the pent up frustration of two years in an apartment as the hedging was taken to within an inch of its life. The garage, that has long housed discarded refuse from the house including four TVs, refrigerator, chairs and tables, has been cleared with the help of Mark's 8 metre skip bin. Hoorah - room for a car!

No do not get ahead of the story. The upstairs rooms needed clearing to make way for a minor refurbishment. So fill the garage again :-)

Oh while you are at it,what about painting the rooms. Yeah, more long lost skills re-learnt.

Now the painting has finished successfully it is time to pull out the saw and screwdriver to re-present my long lost talents in carpentry in adding facilities to Mel's agistment property.

This was all very enjoyable (really) but not as good as the couple of days with Al & Kev at their house at Sandy Point. The new beach house is looking stunning and is so conducive to R&R.

<![CDATA[90 years young]]>Sat, 16 Feb 2013 23:47:57 GMThttp://itsmorethanagame.net/2013-newsletter/90-years-young2013 is a very important year. Ern (dad) has now celebrated his 90th birthday. This event, as could be expected, occurred over a two period from 16th January (actual birth date) to 2 March when we had a celebration at Woodlands Golf Club.
As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words. The following gallery will do just that. The High Tea at Woodlands Golf Club was a surprise for dad with the extended family and the golfers (the Gerries) that he plays with on Tuesday and Friday. Great Sunday afternoon and superbly catered for by Woodlands.

Many happy returns dad.
