Weekend in Sydney

Marg & I met Mark & Mel in Sydney for the weekend to celebrate both their birthdays.
After several days in the Blue Mountains, Mel & Mark had to tackle the Friday afternoon traffic in Sydney to pick me up from the airport.  A hot humid day was a sign of the weekend.  We welcomed the air conditioned comfort at the Medina Grand before heading over to darling Harbour via the monorail for a touch of steak, a welcoming beer and a great street theatre performance.

While all of this was going on, Marg was stuck on the runway at Melbourne airport as Melbourne experienced one of its worst storms for the summer.  Arriving over two hours late was disappointing but tolerable.

Saturday presented a 43 degree day which curtailed our wander around the Rock market but provided a superb trip on Sydney Harbour from Circular Quay to Double Bay and Rose Bay on our way to Watsons Bay and a wonderful lobster at Doyles.  On return we found our way to the Aquarium at Darling Harbour, which once again, kept us out of the heat of the day.

Poppy Tony & Nanna Judi announce arrival of Annalise Lawler

Greetings All from the Lawlers.

Janelle successfully delivered by normal means a liitle girl ANNALISE HANNAH LAWLER this morning (6th January) at 5.29am.   5 weeks premature but mother, daughter and father Greg all well.  For those interested Janelle went into labor about 11.30pm last night, the baby weighed in at 2.77kg (6lb 1oz) and they are in room 6, 7th floor, Frances Perry House at Royal Women’s Hospital.   Janelle is quite pleased she arrived early as she had been warned the baby was going to be quite large, which was starting to bring a tear to her eyes!

Poppy Tony is proud as punch but Nanna Judi is currently walking in remote NZ out of phone range and won’t find out for a few days.    After carefully planning this walk 5 weeks before the baby was due so she could be on hand when it arrived, she will be doubly browned off firstly to be away and secondly not to find out about it for several days – Greg and I haven’t stopped laughing at the irony of it all!

No doubt you will all get the usual baby photos and gumph when Nanna Judi settles down from being the last to find out about it, and returns from NZ.

Regards,
Tony Lawler
