What is special in 2016

Kayak in paradise

A great way to spend Easter as long as you are fit and have a reasonable ability to manage a floating  object that is slippery and is designed with the express intention of tipping you out.
Steph went with several of her friends to Kangaroo Valley that is between Canberra and Sydney in order to paddle and camp their way along the river.
The rewards are great.

But the effort may be too much for some....

Please note that this is not one of Steph's friends!

Sandy Point Sandcastles

Remember the report from Easter 2014.  The sandcastles were destroyed and the rain was heavy.

But 2016 was a different story.  Despite being overcast the sandcastle competition at Sandy Point was very successful.  This is a major event at this mecca for Easter holiday makers.  The crowds can be seen heading for the beach from early hours of the morning with their shovels and wheelbarrows, all in an attempt to gain the only prize...recognition for the builder of the Sandcastle extraordinaire.

Mel's new property

Mel's backyard
After 4 weeks of intensive activity Mel and her friends have managed to move between properties. This includes establishing fencing, water and electric fencing on the new property while cleaning up and moving out of all the outbuilding at the Sunbury property.  This would not have been possible without the assistance of a great group of friends.
Moving house is always a difficult job but when you have to also rebuild a working property at the other end it does seem like an impossible task.  We can look back now and reflect on the value and generosity of friends that made it possible.
Imagine the following to just name a few tasks:
  • deconstruct a 4m x 9m stable panel by panel and move to new property
  • move at least 100 loads of horse gear from out buildings to the new barn
  • create water on reticulation via 2km of water pipe laid and fixed along fence lines
  • create electric fences by adding over 2km of wire mounted 300mm on each side of fences
  • move 20 horses
  • clean up 40 acres of paddocks
  • oh...and leave the old property spotless

The Sunbury property is now part of a sales campaign as the landlord continues to develop caravan parks in Queensland.
